Trip Advisor 'Probably the sexiest rooms in the world'
It's not just the sweeping rural views or even the amazingly stylish yet minimalist contemporary decor that took our breath away. For starters, the loft (the size of many apartments) features Farrow and Ballish painted floorboards, cool shaggy rugs, an L-shaped sofa for anyone who wants to loll in front of a late-night DVD and best of all, a huge free-standing double-ended bath big enough for two - the place has been designed by someone who knows their stuff. And the scene had been thoughtfully set for our arrival: soft, funky music emanated from the Bose sound system while a gently flickering glass-fronted fire warmed the room and added extra ambience. There are also two separate areas to the left and right: one houses a high spec, travertined bathroom offering numerous yummy Jo Malone toiletries that were ours to keep; the other a wardrobe and fridge (the latter delightfully concealing chilled mineral water, a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice and an even more welcome half-bottle of Chablis to complement the Fleurie on the sideboard and decanter of delicious sloe gin on our bedside table) as well as plentiful supplies of organic teas and ground coffee with cafetiere. Oh, and there were plates of fresh fruit and home-made shortcake biscuits lest we couldn't make it until dinner without refreshments (we couldn't, come to think of it, and succumbed to temptation on several fronts immediately).

The multi-course breakfast in the old milling room the next morning didn't disappoint either. After cereals with fruit followed by fresh raspberry yoghurt with home-cooked flapjacks (don't miss some toast with scrumptious chunky orange marmalade either) I'm amazed we both managed a full English too. But somehow we did - and then couldn't eat again for the rest of the day despite a longish bike ride through the tranquil Suffolk countryside to work it off!

Run by a lovely manager called Rebecca who genuinely seems to make it her business to ensure that everything's perfect for you, Tuddenham Mill offers a unique environment and if you're looking for somewhere special to take some romantic, indulgent and luxurious time out, look no further. We checked out rather reluctantly, feeling gallons more relaxed and rejuvenated after just one night, and wishing we could have stayed longer.

Just don't tell your children about it (we sighed wistfully and said it had been rather a boring weekend really). On no account show them any photographs of the mill itself, your huge bed, the meadow views or the swan-filled river. And in particular, don't mention the slimline widescreen television or they'll demand to accompany you next time. And that - trust me! - would be no good at all.
